Natural pet-safe mosquito treatment in a Bali garden

Plenty of families on Bali tell me the same thing: they want the mosquitoes gone but they have a toddler on the lawn, a dog that eats everything, or a permaculture garden they would rather not spray with synthetic pyrethroids. As a technician I respect that, and I will be honest with you about the trade-off. Natural treatments — botanical pyrethrum, essential-oil formulations and microbial larvicides like BTI — are real and effective, especially against larvae, but the adult knock-down is generally shorter-lived than synthetic fogging, so they work best as part of a more frequent, source-reduction-focused approach. I would rather set that expectation up front than sell you a product that disappoints.

What's Included

Botanical Adult Knock-Down

Natural pyrethrum (from chrysanthemum) and essential-oil based fogs reduce adult mosquitoes with a much shorter environmental residual than synthetics.

BTI Microbial Larviciding

Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis — fully biological, fish- and pet-safe — does the heavy lifting against larvae in ponds and standing water.

Source-Reduction First

With natural treatments, removing breeding sites matters even more. We survey and advise thoroughly so the gentler products have less to do.

Honest Frequency Advice

Because natural adult control fades faster, we recommend more frequent, lighter visits rather than overselling a single treatment.

How the Treatment Works

  1. Tell us your priorities

Toddlers, pets, organic garden, sensitivities — we tailor the product mix to what you want to avoid.

  2. Source reduction and larviciding

BTI and physical removal of breeding sites do most of the work, safely, with long-lasting effect.

  3. Botanical fogging as needed

Natural pyrethrum or oil-based fog for adult knock-down before events or when biting is bad, accepting it needs repeating sooner.

  4. Set a realistic rhythm

We agree a slightly more frequent schedule than a synthetic plan would need, and adjust by results.

Pricing in IDR

Natural treatments start from IDR 450,000 per visit — a little above standard fogging because botanical products cost more and are applied more often. They combine well with BTI larviciding, which is naturally pet-safe. For families wanting steady gentle cover, fold it into a monthly plan; full rates on the pricing page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are natural treatments as effective as chemical fogging?
Against larvae, BTI is just as effective and safer. Against adult mosquitoes, botanical fogs knock down well but do not last as long as synthetic pyrethroids, so they need repeating more often. We are upfront about that trade-off.
Is it truly safe for my pets and kids?
Natural products are lower-residue and break down quickly, and BTI is harmless to mammals and fish. We still ask that pets and children stay off treated areas until any fog has cleared — typically a shorter wait than with synthetics.
Will it hurt bees and my garden?
We time botanical fogging for when pollinators are not active (early morning or dusk) and BTI does not affect bees at all. It is the most garden-conscious option we offer, but no fog is entirely selective, so source reduction comes first.
Can I mix natural and standard treatments?
Yes — some clients use natural larviciding year-round and accept a synthetic fog only for a one-off dengue emergency. We will build whatever balance you are comfortable with.
